National Careers Week 2018 (NCW) is almost upon us, and Malet Lambert has planned a week of engaging activities for all year groups to be involved in.
NCW is a nationwide initiative that celebrates careers education in schools, and focuses on employability, aspirations and entrepreneurship.
Monday will start with inspirational speakers from PUSH, who will be talking to Year 10 and Year 7 about aiming high when they head into the world of work.
On Tuesday, Innovative Enterprise will be helping Year 7 create and pitch a new product to market, and try out roles in sales, marketing and finance along the way.
Engaging Education will be working with Year 8 on Wednesday, taking part in a design and enterprise activity.
Wyke College will also be in to interview Year 11 pupils about courses they would like to take to help them reach their career goals.
Thursday will see the whole of Year 9 take part in a Young Enterprise workshop which will give pupils the chance to make business and finance decisions as a team to promote a new product of their choice.
Year 10 will take part in mock job interviews with real life employers as part of an activity to improve employability skills.
The week will culminate with a Careers Fair featuring employers and training providers from the local area. This will be open to Years 9, 10 and 11.
Some pupils will also be attending a Women in Mechanical Engineering (WiME) event at the Guildhall, to encourage more girls to consider a career in engineering.
An exciting week planned!
