Subjects
All pupils follow National curriculum courses for pupils aged 11 to 16. The majority of our pupils are entered for the General certificate of Secondary Education GCSE. However, we also offer a range of alternative qualifications including BTEC’s, National Awards and National Certificates and the Diploma in Creative and Media.
We run a number of vocational courses with appropriate qualifications in subjects such as Hairdressing, Engineering and construction.
We believe in pupils achieving accreditation when they are ready and at the level they can achieve at. We have opportunities for entry level study in a number of subjects, including Languages. About 120 pupils take Humanities or Expressive Arts GCSE as well as French GCSE at the end of year 9. A few pupils have been provided with access to AS level Maths and English when they have completed their GCSE studies.
Travel & Tourism and Media Studies will offer a BTEC qualification, whilst ICT will offer a BTEC National Certificate. We also offer a GCSE in Applied Business Studies, Law, Applied Health and Social Care, and we deliver level 1 courses in Construction (CITB), Hairdressing, Catering, Public Services and Engineering.
We also provide Entry Level Certificates in Maths, English, French, German and History.
