We believe in providing our pupils with a challenging and stimulating learning environment. The curriculum is planned and delivered with the aim of allowing all pupils, regardless of age, gender, ethnic group or ability, the opportunity to achieve their very best. Pupils at Malet Lambert usually work in a year group according to their age but setting and enrichment programmes for individual pupils enable them to move through programmes of study as quickly as their ability allows.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
All pupils follow the National Curriculum and they will study the core subjects:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • ICT

and the foundation subjects:

  • History
  • Geography
  • Technology
  • One modern foreign language (French, German or Spanish) in Year 7 with 2 languages from Year 8
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • RE

In addition, we enhance the pupils' learning exeriences with our Learning to Learn programme and a wide ranging Personal Social and Health Education course, including Citizenship

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11)

In addition to the core subjects of the National Curriculum, the school offers a wide range of accredited subjects. Details of courses in year 10 -11 are sent to parents at the appropriate time but the range of these can be seen by visiting the Curriculum Links page on this website.

Pupils continue to have two PE lessons per week and Religious Education is taught as a GCSE short course. The pupils' personal development programme includes modules on effective learning but also includes a greater emphasis on careers education in preparation for continuing education beyond 16 or entering training for employment.
