The Mathematics department is fully staffed by specialists and are housed in 13 classrooms. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and various interactive resources available. The department has two sets of laptops which are used to enhance learning in lessons. We also have a large breakout area which is used for small group work, extension and support lessons.
Extra Curricular
The department takes part in a number of extra-curricular activities; these are either arranged on an as-required basis or are parts of projects. For example, at any given point in time there will be support or revision classes being run by individual staff and at various times during the year we will be preparing groups of pupils for various activities. In previous years our pupils have participated in:
- UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Intermediate and Junior challenges
- UKMT team challenge
- Enrichment sessions for year 11
- Happy Puzzle Company
- Year 7 Cross school challenge
- Wilberforce and Wyke Booster sessions
- National Cipher Challenge
…and we hope to expand these activities and add new ones in the coming year.
