Former pupil Lee Pearson has been appointed as the new Enterprise Officer for Hull College.
The student volunteer role sits nicely alongside his Level 1 Business Studies course and draws on the experience he had in enterprise education while he was a student at Malet Lambert School.
Lee, who was last year’s Head Boy, is very proud to have secured his new position and it is something he is very passionate about.
He said, “I saw the position of Enterprise Officer had become available and I thought how much I would love to get stuck into a role like that. I’d done some enterprise work at Malet Lambert and I loved it - I took part in school enterprise activities and also tasks that were part of my courses.
“Two friends nominated me and I had to campaign for votes across all the campuses in Hull, and the ones in Harrogate and Goole. Earlier in the week I was told I had been successful and would start on 1st July. My first task will be to get to know students and staff and let them know how I can help them get involved in enterprise.
“I think being Head Boy at Malet Lambert really helped my confidence and made me feel ready to apply for this kind of role. It was a great experience and I felt proud to be the voice of the students and someone they felt they could talk to.
“I made really good progress in my studies thanks to the support and help of the teaching staff at Malet, so now I feel very comfortable and confident studying my new course.”
Lee is aiming high and one day hopes to be a teacher of Business Studies.
We wish Lee all the best on his course and in his new role!
