Three winners have been announced for the English department's creative writing competition this term - a poem focusing on our City of Culture win earlier in the year.
Harry (Year 7), Callum (Year 8) and James (Year 9) were rewarded with a shopping voucher each for their creative efforts by English teacher, Mr Black.
He said, "We had some fantastic entries for this competition and the winners were chosen for their very different styles.
"I greatly enjoyed reading all the submissions and it was tough picking the winners - but they were well deserved!
"As a department, we really love inspiring our students to be creative with words."
Harry, who simply called his poem "Ull", collaborated with his dad during half term on his entry.
He said, "We were on holiday in Cayton Bay, it was raining really bad and we were looking for something to do.
"I remembered the competition from school so me and my dad sat down and wrote the poem about all the famous people of Hull.
"I didn't know I had won so I'm pretty pleased."
