After five years at Malet Lambert School, Year 11 students celebrated the final time they would all be together at their prom at Lazaats Restaurant in Cottingham.
Over 240 students ordered tickets to the annual end of term event, which had previously been hosted at Staff House at the University of Hull.
This time, students and staff enjoyed a three course meal in an impressive marquee, followed by music and dancing.
Throughout the evening, a film was playing, made especially for Year 11 leavers showing their time over the years at Malet Lambert - from nervous Year 7 students to confident Year 11s on their last skiing trip.
Loui and Ellie (pictured), Head Boy and Head Girl at Malet, were proud to be at the event and have very fond memories of their time at school.
Loui said, “Teaching staff here have been so supportive during our lessons and exams, they’ve made a real difference. Personally for me and my business, Mr Logan has been a brilliant help. He’s really given me a push and lots of advice to get my business moving in the right direction.
“This evening has just been amazing and such a great way to end the year.”
Ellie commented, “I’ve had the best time at Malet Lambert - it’s been life changing. I’ve made so many friends here - in fact, the best friends I could ever ask for. We’ve worked so hard for our exams this year and staff have been there every step of the way.
“I’ve been looking forward to prom so much that I bought my dress in October last year! Everyone here looks amazing tonight and we’ve all had an unforgettable evening.”
Loui and Ellie also had some words of wisdom for our Year 6 students who are ready to make the transition to Year 7 at Malet Lambert.
Loui said, “Don’t be too nervous. It can be scary at first but everyone at Malet is there to help you and is on your side.”
Ellie said, “The best advice I can give is to take every opportunity that you are given. There is so much to get involved in at school so make the most of it and enjoy it.”
Year 11 Progress Leader Mr Chapman said, "The evening was a great success. Feedback from both staff and students was excellent.
"There was a real sense of togetherness and a family-feel, brought about by the sudden breakout of singing in unison to "Proud" by M People.
"The staff from Lazaats, photographer and DJ were very complementary about the impeccable behaviour of our students."
