Fifty Year 6 pupils have been invited to attend a Summer School at Malet Lambert before they start as new Year 7 students in September.
During this week they have already completed team building and construction activities with engineering training providers, HETA, filmed their own movie trailers with the help of social enterprise Engaging Education, and developed their own characters for a comic book.
Still to come, they will be creating their own fruit drinks with Xing Smoothies and looking at how to market and sell them, plus they'll be completing team building activities with Hull City, with the chance of meeting a player or two!
The idea of Summer School is to help students to integrate with each other and the school before they start in September, and hopefully ease the transition process for them. Here's what some of the students think of their experience so far:
Luke - "My favourite bit has been filming our movie trailers, that was brilliant."
Kieran - "Been a really good week so far and I can't wait to meet the Hull City players on Friday. I've met new people and I feel more confident about coming to Malet in September."
Josh - "Summer School has been really good and I liked the using the cameras yesterday. I've been a bit worried about coming to big school but, now that I've been this week, I feel good about it."
Amber - "I've had lots of fun this week and I've really enjoyed drawing our comic character. I can't wait to see what they look like."
Maureen - "I really like drawing the superhero characters, because it's your idea and you can do anything with it. I've been nervous about coming to Malet but I feel better after being at Summer School."
Elizabeth - "The teachers have been really nice and I'm looking forward to starting here next month."
Gabrielle - "I'm already excited to start in Year 7. I really like drawing so working on our comic book characters has been lots of fun."
