This week a select group of Business Ambassadors from Malet Lambert School visited Victoria Dock Primary School to help set up our local area’s first Youth Ready Hub.
Year 7 students Molly, Kai, Joe and Paniz, attended the event, meeting with pupils from different primary schools around Hull.
The enterprising students, who successfully applied for, and won, the roles, took part in team-building activities to get to know the pupils with whom they will be working over the coming months.
The Business Ambassadors all then brainstormed ideas around how they could collectively use the Big 13 Enterprise skills to develop enterprising activities or events in their local community.
Malet Lambert students Theo and Harry, who have shown enterprising initiative themselves in recent years, both spoke at the event, giving inspirational presentations to all present.
Theo told the Hub all about his ideas for a new app he has developed, which although initially set up as a homework organiser, has grown into an app aimed at business users.
Harry showed the Hub the 'Top Trips' trading cards he has designed, based on local landmarks in Hull, and shared with the group his plans for the project.
The Hub had plenty of questions to ask them both, and the students answered them fully and confidently. The Hub then gave group feedback for their own ideas for how the Business Ambassadors could be enterprising in our community through working collaboratively between our schools with most ideas centralising around food shops or cafes, talent contests, or mini-Olympics events.
With more meetings planned for the coming months, it is an exciting time for Hull’s first Youth Ready Hub.
