'Eat Sleep Read', our literacy programme for Y7 & Y8, has been running since September 2014 and students have taken to it very well, with a surge of interest in reading.
During the past five months, students have collectively read over 90 million words, which is outstanding!
Tutor groups with the highest word count in Y7 & Y8 have won prizes for their efforts, and many individuals have reached the Millionaire's Club - having read over a million words just on their own.
Although many new books like The Hunger Games, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cirque Du Freak are holding steady as favourites amongst the year group, the LRC has seen an increase in popularity of authors from the past.
Roald Dahl never seems to fall from favour, and 1930's favourite Enid Blyton is currently seeing a renewed interest amongst girls in these year groups.
