Students from across year groups participated in a very succesful Enrichment Day yesterday, taking part in a variety of workshops, discussions and activities on a number of topics.
Many external agencies visited to assist with this, including Humberside Fire and Rescue, Humberside Police, local colleges, St John's Ambulance and Cornerhouse.
Lots of activities were provided by departments and delivered by teaching staff, covering important Personal, Social and Health Education subjects such as healthy eating, road safety, careers, mental health, sexual health, drug/alcohol awareness and self-esteem.
Depending on their year group, students attended lots of different workshops, including cooking healthy snacks, firework safety awareness, testing out the iCar which provides an interactive road safety experience, PSHE quizzes with Cornerhouse, fitness and exercise sessions, first aid training, and careers talks from local training providers.
The PE department even created a mini Army-inspired assault course, designed to test students' fitness and stamina levels.
Enrichment Day was organised by PSHE Co-ordinator, Miss Walker, who thanked everyone involved for 'making sessions so worthwhile for all our students.'
The next Enrichment Day will be in December and will have a 'careers' focus.
