By Max & Jude, Year 7
In our school report subject we interviewed one of our PE teachers Mr Ripley. We asked him a series of questions regarding sports and PE at our school. We also questioned him about careers in the sports industry.
These are the questions we asked him and the answers to them:
If there are any upcoming sports events can you tell us about them?
The Year 10 girls are going to Yorkshire for the regional finals of rugby on the 10th of March.
The boys Year 11 football for the national cup semi-final on Friday at Thomas Telford School.
And the Year 10 boy’s rugby match at Yorkshire for the plate final.
And Year 8s rugby match final at London.
Then we followed up with: Have you ever got to the final before for a tournament?
We have won the National football cup twice.
We have won the National rugby cup twice.
And the current Year 11s got to semi-final 4 times out of 5 years and now it’s their last chance to win.
Then we asked if there are any other sporting events going on such as: Badminton or netball?
Badminton has just finished but will start again next year.
The KS4 boys team are in the Humberside final of badminton.
The netball team are very successful.
Why is it important to study PE and how does it improve the student’s future
“The most important subject in the school, because it’s something everybody can do for the rest of their life. It could even inspire people to go to the gym once or twice a week. It’s very important to promote health and fitness.”
Is there going to be a change in the current PE curriculum?
It used to be 60% practical 40% theory and now 70 percent theory and 30% practical.
In PE how do you expect your students to get on with each other?
“The thing biggest thing is effort”
“As long as pupils put effort in we're happy”
“All we can ask for is positive attitude and effort.”
