Last week Tommy Coyle came into Malet Lambert and we had a chance to interview him. We asked him a range of questions about him and his past careers.
“Yes, the training is easy I train in Manchester.” He quoted, “The hardest part is that you miss your family.”
Later we found out he has two sons and a wife, and his dad works for Hull Fruit Market. “I started fighting at the age of 6 and my first fight was at the age of 11, at Woodford.” Boxing is his only career as he believes he made the wrong decisions in his school life.
“I, as a school child, bunked off school because I did not like school.” He said. However, he realises this was an error and tried to impress on us the importance of trying hard at school. In fact he said, “Never, ever bunk off school always try your hardest otherwise you will get nowhere in life.”
We found out that, unfortunately, Coyle has had many injuries. He has torn a ligament in his elbow which prevented him from fighting for nine months. He has also fractured his eye socket. Sadly, he will not be able to fight for three months.
He has won many trophies such as the IBF International, WBC International amongst others: “I won titles when I was younger” he quoted. He has won many others but they are not as important as the ones we have named. He said “I love to do what I do and hope I can continue for longer.”
