Malet Lambert’s new Alternative Curriculum Environment is ready to open!
The Alternative Curriculum Environment (ACE) is a space designed around pupils' wishes to help develop life skills, social skills and further improve their self-confidence and self-worth. ACE will be available for all staff and pupils to use in September as an alternative learning space.
ACE includes both indoor and outdoor spaces and there will be exciting opportunities to develop both the sensory room and garden with a focus on sustainability and world of work. Small groups of pupils will be able to experience different projects in the garden and kitchen, thus developing resilience and independence whilst building important life skills. This will also be a place for those pupils who may feel overwhelmed, and need some time out in the day, to visit.
Pupils will be able to access ACE to support with preparing for college, interviews and life after school. Outside agencies will meet in the environment away from school to support pupils with their mental wellbeing. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to meet here for coffee mornings and events. ACE is intended to be used by both the Malet Lambert school community and our wider community and is part of Malet Lambert's three-year Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship project.
