For the third year running, Malet Lambert School has produced a winner for Hull enterprise competition Badger’s Sett.
Following in the footsteps of the Green Queens in 2011 and Loui Fowler in 2012, Year 8 pupil Harry Hopkin won with his very relevant Hull tourism game, Hull Top Trips, and he will receive over £1000 to help set up his business.
The annual Badger’s Sett competition is run by former Apprentice star and businesswoman Ruth Badger, and aims to encourage young people – from primary school pupils up to post-16 students – to become young entrepreneurs by thinking of new business ideas.
Harry was up against tough competition from other entrants from secondary schools in the area but was a clear winner for the top prize.
After winning his age group, he then went on to compete against two primary schools and a post-16 team to be crowned overall winner, with special merit being given to Gillshill Primary School for their pitch.
A prototype product has already been created for Harry by Engaging Education and a website promoting the game is currently in production.
Harry was officially announced as the winner at the Enterprise Masterclass at the University of Hull on Friday and admitted he was “really nervous” when he had to stand up in front of such a large crowd and introduce himself and his idea.
Congratulations to Harry from everyone at Malet Lambert School!
