PSHE allows students to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives. As part of a whole school approach PSHE allows students to develop the attributes and qualities people need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.
Here at Malet Lambert we have organised a series of Enrichment Days. These days allow the students to be off-timetable to participate and be involved in various activities and workshops surrounding the curriculum of PSHE.
Each Enrichment Day has a theme to enable students to develop knowledge of certain topics.
The themes for these days are:
Enrichment Days allow us to invite guest speakers, external organisations and develop fundraising opportunities.
Each day will provide practical hands on learning for our students and opportunities for them to discuss and reflect on topics surrounding the most critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face growing up.
The dates of our Enrichment Days are:
20th October 2015
16th December 2015
11th February 2016
18th March 2016
24th May 2016
13th July 2016
Our first Enrichment day was very successful, students participated in fun fitness activities in PE, learnt how to make healthy muffins, discussed drug and alcohol awareness along with learning all about first aid. Our year 10 students discussed issues surround social media and how to keep safe online while our year 11 students received talks and presentations from local colleges to help them with their choices after they leave school. The full day was full of interesting and informative sessions for all of our students. The feedback from both staff and students has been very positive and we are looking forward to our next Enrichment Day.
PSHE education assists in the personal development of young people. It helps build their confidence, self-esteem and personal identities. Our student will understand how to make career choices, understand what influences decisions and develop self-understanding, empathy and the ability to work with others.
We thrive to provide our students with the opportunity to enjoy healthy and productive relationships in all aspects of their lives.
