Malet Lambert School always gets behind a good cause, and today we're getting active for Sport Relief.
At lunchtime, students and staff got together to challenge each other in a variety of different sports. Competitors had to pay 50p to challenge a teacher to a game of basketball, football or table tennis, amongst others. Every time a member of staff was beaten by a student, they had to donate 50p.
Outside, we had a penalty shootout with English staff in goal, alongside a golf challenge manned by our teaching assistants. In the fitness suite, pupils were trying to outrun Mrs Shaw and Miss Tarbet on the running machines.
In the sports hall, there were multiple games of basketball, table tennis, badminton and a taekwondo kick challenge.
Miss Spendlow organised the fundraising, alongside staff from the PE department.
She said, "We're pleased to say we raised over £100 this lunchtime, and we also got lots of students active and engaged in sports activities.
"There was a great turnout and the students loved taking on the staff, who were great sports.
"A really big thank you to everyone who took part – it wouldn’t have happened without the strong support we have at Malet Lambert."
Previously in the year, Miss Spendlow organised a school pancake making competition and a staff breakfast, cooked by students, which both raised money for Sport Relief.
For the rest of the day, Year 7, 8 and 9 will be competing in an inter-form sports challenge. Boys will be playing football in their tutor group teams, and girls will be doing the same playing benchball.
