A selection of Y8 & 9 students were given the chance to visit one of the biggest science shows in the area - The Big Bang Fair at Doncaster Racecourse.
The exhibition, which is a local version of the national event that takes place in London and Birmingham, housed stands from a variety of businesses, training providers, colleges and organisations, who put on some great activities to engage older children and primary school children alike.
Students got to experience a jockey simulation ride, racing mini formula one cars, holding exotic animals, creating wind turbines and finding their liver or bowels with an ultra sound machine.
Scores of companies were represented, including HETA, Bishop Burton College, Hull University, Siemens and Humberside Police, who bought their high-tech iCar which simulates crashes in different scenarios to promote road safety.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition and many took the opportunity to get free a keyring with their fingerprint on - one of many freebies on the day!
STEM Co-ordinator and science teacher Mr Johansson, is hoping to go one better with next year’s event.
He said, “The students had a great day today, and with many of them being part of STEM club, the activities were of a real interest to them.
“I’m hoping that next year we’ll get a chance to take this trip to the next level and visit one of the main Big Bang Fair events in Birmingham or London.”
