After a raid on a taxidermy warehouse a chimp was taken along with a baboon, giraffe and tatty looking lioness as part of a £100,000 haul.
Thieves, who broke in used angle grinders which have supplied props from films like Paddington, Harry Potter and also TV shows making off with 18 animals and antiques in a Luton van.
The boss of taxidermy warehouse fears that they may have been after the rhino horns which command huge prices in a Asian market. They began taking random things such as two lions, two giraffes and the chimpanzee wearing a top hat.
There’s also a scarlet ibis, a sloth and 4 baboons also gone. Some of them were antiques including crocodiles and zebras all of the items have appeared on the TV or in a magazine this happened last week and all of the items will be hard to replace.
A king penguin was taken the only one they have had for 25 years. Thieves will struggle to sell these products as they are large and recognisable since you don’t see many chimps in a top hat.
Detectives are examining CCTV and talking to workers at the estate in Wandsworth, South London. Police have stated that it wasn’t a random crime the burglars came fully prepared for the robbery.
