Recognition comes in many forms at Malet Lambert.
We have very high expectations of our pupils but we also place great emphasis on recognising those pupils who meet and exceed these expectations in terms of behaviour, attendance, positive learning behaviours and "going the extra mile".
Each term we recognise and reward those pupils that qualify with a positive letter home and an option to attend an event.
In order to qualify for recognition, we ask that pupils average no more than 4 behaviour points per week and that they have no more than an average of 1 (often referred to as an “AM session” or “PM session”) unauthorised absence per fortnight.
For Year 11 our main reward is without doubt our Year 11 Summer Celebration Event, often referred to as the Prom. For other year groups the much talked about end of year event which gets bigger and better every year is Malet Fest where we provide all manner of activities from inflatable assault courses to human table football. The event also hosts a number of ever popular ice cream vans and exciting special guests from the local community with an opportunity to learn in a hands on way.
From September 2022 we fully launched a new system called PLUS POINTS. This allows pupils to gain plus points from any member of staff for in class and out class behaviours that reflect the behaviours that promote learning and a positive environment for all. This could be from a class teacher recognising a pupils contribution to an in class discussion, recognising an outstanding piece of work or a member of staff recognising a pupil who has shown good manners or supported another pupil for example.
These plus points can then be exchanged at our school shop for prizes ranging from stationary and footballs, to Amazon gift vouchers.
We regularly review the prizes on offer to ensure that they are credible and incentivise pupils.
