The school offers a diverse and exciting Physical Education curriculum which includes both traditional team games and a variety of individual sporting activities. The main team games are football, rugby league and cricket for boys, netball, rounders and football for girls. In addition to these team activities we offer badminton, trampolining, basketball, athletics, cross-country running and dance. In most of these sports we compete against other schools and take part in regional and national competitions, with the school enjoying great success.
As part of the BSF project, the department received substantial funding to create a state of the art sports complex consisting of a sports hall, activity studio, fitness suite and classroom teaching area. We are lucky to have extensive playing fields, netball/tennis courts and a floodlit 3G football pitch. These facilities are heavily used, both by the school and the local community. All our PE staff are qualified to teach the subject and, between them, have coaching qualifications in football, rugby union, rugby league, hockey, basketball, netball, trampolining, dance, athletics and badminton. The department is incredibly enthusiastic about promoting sporting excellence, whilst ensuring that inclusion is held in the utmost importance.
