The Business Studies department at Malet Lambert provides a single option choice in Year 10/11. Our department brings together a wealth of experience with two of our staff coming into the department from management roles in industry. This helps us provide expansive knowledge and expertise in various aspects of Business.

The school has 6 dedicated ICT rooms across the site with Business Studies taking place in two of these. All rooms have colour/b&w printing and scanning facilities as well as a suite of iPads.
We deliver the Edexcel GCSE course in Applied Business. During the course they will investigate actual businesses and gain an understanding of business finance. It is ‘applied’ because they use what they learn to understand the businesses they investigate. They learn many real life skills and gain a good understanding of job application processes, completing CVs, interview techniques as well as an understanding of how a wide range of laws and other government legislation affect them both currently and when they leave education to begin their careers.

All pupils take part in an Investor Challenge which is a national competition where pupils can win an all expenses paid trip to New York. Pupils in previous years have taken part in and won various accolades in the Young Enterprise scheme. There will also be visits to the two businesses that the pupils study during the course as well as guest speakers coming in to talk to the pupils.
