City centre café “Savile Row Café Bar” has stepped in to fill the void of hot meals for the homeless.
Last week Hull’s Homeless Outreach programme was shut down by environmental health officials. By being hosted at the St Mary’s Church, it was breaching hygiene regulations.
Since then, Savile Row Café Bar has taken over feeding the homeless their hot meals. Environmental health has agreed to work with Savile Row Café Bar in the provision of the hot meals to St Mary’s Church. Hull’s Homeless Outreach programme think that the church should still be involved, as the distribution unit for the hot meals.
In a recent interview with the Hull Daily Mail, Savile Row Café Bar said, “We have the kitchen upstairs not being used, so this seemed like a decent and charitable thing to do.”
