On Wednesday, a small group of Year 7s held a summer fayre to raise as much money as possible for Dove House Hospice, with a little help from the Sky Sports: Living for Sport program.
Mr Ripley organised the summer fayre to be held at Malet Lambert, and selected a handful of Year 7s who would benefit from the experience of organising such an event.
This was all in aid of Dove House Hospice, which is a charity what provides care to patients with life limiting illnesses.
The event was mostly planned and set up by the Year 7s, who ran the stalls and collected the prizes for the fayre.
There were numerous stalls with a variety of different activities for the students to take part in, for example, there was an activity which consisted of students throwing wet sponges at the teachers, which were held in stocks.
A dart game was also there, where the students would have to throw the darts at pictures of teacher’s faces.
There was also hook a duck, cross bar challenge, penalty shoot-out, a cake and refreshments table and a HKR inflatable rugby game.
There were lots of students helping out on the different stalls, Kaleb, who was in charge of the crossbar challenge stall, said, “We made the signs in the computer room, collected the prizes and ran the stall.
“You need to be confident and talkative if you want to do something like this; I think we will make a lot of money, which is good as it is all going to charity.”
Ben Pipes the former GB volleyball captain was also at the event aiming to raise as much money as possible.
The Olympian said, “The summer fayre was fantastic, one of the best days in the Sky Sports: Living For Sport program, the students were very confident as well, which is a good thing when you are in charge of a stall.”
