Enthusiastic budding scientists attended a special lecture for school children today, at the University of Hull.
Year 9 students were invited, alongside other schools, to enjoy an interactive seminar based on the solar system.
Astrophysicists Dr Kevin Pimbblet and Dr Angela Dyson took students on a journey through the Milky Way and beyond, as they explored what a planet is, how our solar system is formed, and how astronomers search for and discover exoplanets.
Students came up with scores of questions, related to the lack of atmosphere on the moon, the life and death of a star, and how they could become an astrophysicist.
The science department at the University of Hull run their 'Christmas' lectures every January. They tackle a variety of subjects, specifically aimed at either KS3 or KS4.
