Last night, pupils, staff and parents came together to celebrate the achievements of our pupils, past and present, at our annual Achievement Evening.
Head of School, Mr Sprakes, led the celebrations with a welcome speech, commenting, "I am so proud to be here to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our pupils.
"It is great to see Year 11 and talk about their aspirations, and hear how much you miss Malet Lambert and remember it with fondness.
"Thanks to staff, governors, parents and pupils for all their hard work together - our partnership is crucial."
The school welcomed former pupil, Professor Olwyn Westwood, to the ceremony as guest speaker.
The celebrated biochemist, whose work in the medical field has taken her to countries across the world, recounted some of her favourite memories of being a pupil at Malet Lambert and had some useful advice for our pupils.
She said, "When I came to Malet Lambert I felt my academic career took off. It was an inspirational school, where I felt I could be an individual. It stretched me academically.
"This school encourages an enquiring mind and my life here always made me think 'I can do this.'
"Malet gave me courage; you should all have the courage to go and do what you want."
"If you have dreams, you can realise them because Malet Lambert gives you wings."
Current pupils were awarded prizes for excellence in each subject area, chosen by heads of department.
For the first time, Heads of House chose a pupil from each year group to be given a House Award.
Some pupils, like Year 8 pupil Solomon, came away with multiple awards, including subject awards for Art and Music, and a House Award rom Bluejay.
Former pupils also returned to collect their GCSE certificates and to receive special awards from staff, including subject awards for excellence and community awards for outstanding pupils.
The biggest accolade is the Headteacher's Award, which was awarded to Ryan Hairsine and Suda Mohamedin by Mr Sprakes.
The night also included performances from our talented singers, musicians and poets.
Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope you all had a fantastic evening celebrating our pupils' brilliant achievements.
