Last term, four Year 9 boys won the local leg of the Humber School Games tournament in Badminton, going forward to represent Hull against other schools in the East Riding and Lincolnshire.
This week they played their final. Having already beaten Sirius Academy, St Mary’s College, Hymers College, and Winifred Holtby - schools who all have strong sports teams - they had earned their place.
A three-way tie amongst the top three teams, including Malet, meant the verdict came down to points scored in matches.
The boys were awarded third place, which was a great effort and something to build on for next year.
They were the only team to beat winners Wolfreton High School during matches, so that is definitely something to be proud of!
Malet Lambert Year 7 B team had made it through to the quarter finals of the National Cup and travelled to Manchester on Wednesday to play their next match.
The weather was against them, and despite a sterling effort from the lads, they lost 1-0 to St Augustine’s RC High School.
Year 9 are still in the running and are yet to play their quarter final match against Brockington College in Leicestershire.
