Safer Internet Day 2014 Over the past week we’ve been promoting internet safety awareness across all year groups in the lead up to this year’s Safer Internet Day 2014.
The school emphasises the importance of this subject in lessons throughout the school year, but opted to give it an extra push during this event of international awareness, and for the next few weeks too.
David Hudson, Assistant Head in charge of e-learning, said, “We originally decided to promote this issue in the run up to Safer Internet Day, but due to some students being in exams, we’ve decided to continue this for a further few weeks to ensure everybody can take part fully.
“We have designed a selection of brochures using information from ceop.police.uk and thinkuknow.co.uk to inform students, and their parents, of the dangers they may face online.
“To help us assess how useful this information has been, how much our students already know and how safe they are online, we’ll be asking them to fill in a comprehensive survey about their online habits.
“This will also help us review current e-safety provision at Malet Lambert and find out how our sessions have affected their attitude towards the internet.”
Safer Internet Day is recognised internationally and a host of events will be running across the UK, including live-stream TV addressing a range of risks and solutions.
Students who have PSHCCEE lessons today will be focusing on e-safety awareness.
